A grassroots food delivery initiative serving marginalized communities across Seattle through community partnerships, justice-impacted leadership, and practical support.
Hunger Rescue, a program under Interaction Transition founded by Michael Flores, is a grassroots food delivery initiative serving marginalized communities across Seattle. Since 2020, the program has operated 30-week service cycles, delivering consistent food support to individuals and families impacted by incarceration, poverty, and systemic barriers.
All food is sourced through in-kind donations and community-funded purchases, with every donation going directly toward food and van expenses.
Candice became involved shortly after incarceration to help develop a strategic plan and provide administrative support, helping ensure the program runs efficiently and continues reaching people who need support most.
Founded and operated by justice-impacted individuals, Hunger Rescue offers not just food — but dignity, connection, and hope.
Through Ed 4 Empowerment, Candice brings practical leadership, reentry insight, and administrative structure to mission-driven programs that serve justice-impacted communities.
Helping clarify program goals, organize priorities, and create a sustainable plan for long-term community impact.
Supporting the behind-the-scenes systems that help grassroots programs operate with consistency and accountability.
Bringing lived experience, compassion, and practical understanding to programs serving those affected by incarceration.
Hunger Rescue demonstrates what happens when community care, lived experience, and practical systems come together. The program meets urgent food needs while also building dignity, trust, and human connection among communities often overlooked by traditional support systems.
Ed 4 Empowerment helps organizations, nonprofits, and community partners develop practical programs rooted in education, reentry support, dignity, and lived experience.
